Sunday is always a great day to reflect on the previous week and to prepare for the upcoming week. It’s a great time to get centered again, spend time in meditation, prayer, or worship.
My wife and I started sharing passages with each other on Sundays. We each get to share with the other whatever resonates with us in that moment and from any book or media of our choosing with the intent that it further our spiritual knowledge.
Today’s Sunday Share is from Napoleon Hill’s Laws of Success. There are 2 of 16 rules that really resonate with me today.
1. Having a Definite Chief Aim
2. The Habit of Doing More than Paid For
I can attribute much of my success to these two principles, however I’m not perfect and I have to continue to cultivate these success hacks and remind myself to be intentional about using them.
A Definite Chief Aim
A definite chief aim can be as simple as when you’re mopping the floor being completely present in that moment and doing the best mop job you possibly can.
Maybe your vision is to completely mop the floors and have them sparkling clean when you’re complete. Nothing can derail you from completing this task. Imagine having such a fulfilling feeling from a job well done and meeting your vision.
It’s very powerful to have a vision and an unwavering attitude toward meeting that vision. Mountains will move for you when this is the case. Events will align. People will show up to help. The mundane will seem beautiful and important.
Do More Than You Are Paid For
So you’ve mopped the floor and have it all sparkling clean. You took a moment to appreciate a job well done. Then you look over and notice the dishes need to be washed. Sure you could just quit and get to it later, but you’re following the habit of doing more than you’re paid for and decide to get them done.
You’re significant other comes home and walks in with a huge smile super impressed with the clean house that must have taken all day! What a great feeling…and to think you almost just sat on the couch and watched TV all day.
Now, you can’t keep this up forever and just continue moving from one job complete to the next and burn yourself out. But if you’re being honest with yourself there’s usually room to go that extra mile to do more than you’re paid for.
These are keys to success – cultivate them!!
